£1.50 Tesco item ‘removes water marks’ from shower screens

Mrs Hinch fans have shared their go-to method for cleaning shower screens – and it’s not white vinegar.

Cleaning shower screens can be a laborious chore that can take hours to perfect.

Most people will resort to using chemical-based cleaning products to remove limescale from shower screens or white vinegar.

However, Mrs Hinch fans claim the best method for removing streaks, soap scum and water marks from shower screens costs just £1.50 from Tesco – a Dishmatic.

Dawn Allison asked the Facebook group, ‘Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips’: “Best thing to clean shower screen, please?”

The post was inundated with almost 60 comments with the most suggested solution being to use a Dishmatic.

Dishmatic Style Fillable Handle & Replacement Sponge costs £1.50 from Tesco, £2 from Sainsbury’s and £1.49 from Savers.

Lisa Harris said: “Mix equal parts of Fairy Liquid and white vinegar in a Dishmatic. Rinse and dry. Removes built-up water marks and soap scum from your shower screen. It makes cleaning effortless.”

Lynney Jack commented: “Viakal and then scrub side with Dishmatic. Leave on for 20 minutes then rinse off. Use a squeegee every time and no need to clean!”

Jo Tuhey agreed: “Dishmatic sponge. Fill the handle with washing-up liquid and white vinegar – go around in circular motions then rinse off with warm water.”

Dishmatic claims to be “the world’s #1 dispensing fillable and refillable washing up tool”. It can be used to wash dishes, clean bathrooms and sinks and other household chores.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using a squeegee, Tesco limescale remover, white vinegar and washing up liquid, and M&S shower spray.

Janet Lawton said: “After every shower, we use a squeegee to clean the whole shower screen and wall boards then use a glass cloth to buff up and then once a week a full clean. Ours is three years old and like new.”

Clare Kramer commented: “Tesco do their own brand of limescale remover spray. It’s brilliant and doesn’t have the strong smell that I find Viakal does. A window vac or squeegee is a must for no streaks!”

Kat McCall replied: “White vinegar and washing up liquid.” Wendy Pearson suggested: “M&S shower spray, no rinse or wipe it’s brilliant.”
