Get £100 to leave BT – UK rival offers incentive to switch broadband

All of the major ISPs are hiking prices next month with some bills going up by over 8 percent. With many household finances already stretched, paying more for internet access is an unwelcome change but Vodafone reckons it can actually help save some pennies if you switch.

The firm has just announced the launch of its new “Great British Telecoms Switch” campaign which it hopes will get people thinking about moving suppliers with Vodafone boasting that moving to its platform could save homes up to £200.

To make things even more enticing, the Internet Service Provider (ISP) is also offering £100 to help pay any early charges faced by consumers when they leave their current plan before the contract has come to an end.

That £100 is available to those moving to Vodafone’s premium Full Fibre 900 plan from another provider – such as EE, BT and Sky – using Openreach cables. It’s not available to users on platforms such as Virgin Media, Hyperoptic or Community Fibre as these ISPs have their own fibre wires not linked to Openreach.

This update comes after the latest news that planned easy Out Touch Switch initiative has been delayed once again meaning UK users may still find it tricky to ditch their current ISP and move to someone new.

“We are launching our Great British Telecoms Switch to help people save money on their broadband and make it easier for them to switch,” said Max Taylor, Chief Commercial Officer, Vodafone UK.

“We are committed to Ofcom’s ‘One Touch Switching’ regulation and disappointed it was delayed by our competitors, so calling on them to make sure they hit the new deadline and start making it easier for customers to get the best deal”.

Speaking about the latest broadband update Paolo Pescatore, Industry analyst, PP Foresight said: “It’s great to see such much-needed excitement in the fixed-line broadband market. Despite the Ofcom One Touch Switch regulation being pushed back yet again to later this year, providers such as Vodafone are not resting on their laurels by ensuring choice at affordable pricing and more importantly making it easy to switch. Definitely one to watch as they continue to disrupt, reignite and kickstart the market”.
