Great white shark rips through underwater cage with diver inside – VIDEO | World | News

A shocking video shows the moment a 13-foot-long great white shark breaks open and enters the side of a shark cage with a diver inside.

The shark was seen violently moving around in the water before ramming itself into the side of the cage.

All of a sudden, it leaped back out the top with bloodied gills before flopping back into the water and swimming away.

The footage, which was taken in Mexico’s Guadalupe Island, shows onlookers on the boat staring at the cage with the diver trapped, fearing for the worst to come.

But the diver was miraculously unharmed, though they emerged from the cage shaken.

The unnamed videographer, who posted the incident on Youtube, described how the shark had been biting at large chunks of tuna tied to a rope moments before it rammed into the cage.

The videographer said: “These awesome sharks are biting at large chunks of tuna tied to a rope.

“When a great white shark lunges and bites something, it is temporarily blinded.

“They also cannot swim backwards. So this shark lunged at the bait, accidentally hit the side of the cage, was most likely confused and not able to swim backwards, it thrust forward and broke the metal rail of the cage.”

Mexico’s Guadalupe Island is considered one of the most popular shark-diving hotspots in the world.
