Iconic crisps make a return to supermarkets including Asda and Tesco

Crisp lovers are in for a treat as an iconic flavour is set to make a comeback on supermarket shelves. The much-loved salt and vinegar Discos will be available in multipacks of six 25.5g bags, rolling out to supermarkets from mid-April.

Priced at just £1.50 per multipack, they will initially be available in B&M, Asda and Sainsbury’s, before being rolled out to other retailers such as Farmfoods and Tesco in mid-June.

You can already buy 50g grab bags of Discos crisps in Asda for £1, while Tesco stocks 86g bags of the tangy crisps for £1.25.

According to manufacturer KP Snacks, the return of the popular crisps is due to consumer demand. However, it’s not all good news for fans of the brand, as last year it was confirmed that bacon-flavoured Discos had been discontinued due to declining popularity.

“We have no plans in producing these again in the near future. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news,” the spokesperson of KP Snacks said.

However, during their heyday, these smokey-flavoured snacks were a favourite among Brits. They were often included in lunchtime meals and were lauded for bringing a bit of happiness to long workdays.

KP Snacks also produces crisps such as McCoy’s, Space Raiders and Nik Naks.

But it’s not all doom and gloom – Walkers has introduced two new flavours that promise to be a taste sensation. These are Sensations Mature Cheddar and Chilli Chutney, and Crushed Sea Salt And Black Peppercorn.

Morrisons customers were also delighted to discover that the supermarket giant has been restocking a highly sought-after “god tier” crisp flavour – Marmite-flavoured crisps.

In addition, Aldi shoppers were overjoyed to see a “dream” crisp flavour back on the shelves.

Aldi’s Specially Selected range saw the return of Garlic Bread Flavour Crinkle Cut Crisps back on the supermarket’s shelves.

The retailer also had people gushing over the Golden Wonder Chip Shop Curry Flavour Potato Sticks that goes for £1.25 a pack.

One person on Facebook wrote: “They are amazing – had a packet of curry yesterday polished off in one go.”
