‘Magic’ Asda item ‘kills green mould and algae’ on patios

Mrs Hinch fans have shared their go-to method for removing moss, algae and mould from patios and paving slabs.

Kerry Lloyd posted on ‘Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips’: “Any tips for cleaning outside patio slabs?”

The post was inundated with responses but one of the most suggested solutions was to use Patio Magic.

Sally Giles said: “Patio Magic. It’s what it’s called…magic.”

Sally added: “It’s never not worked for me. I’ll be doing it the week after next so if I remember I’ll send you pictures.”

Sue Bolton agreed with Sally and simply commented on the Facebook post, “Patio Magic”.

Patio Magic costs £12.75 from B&Q, £10.97 from Amazon and Asda, and £11 from Wickes.

Patio Magic is a concentrated disinfectant which is often used to treat and prevent green mould, algae and lichen.

The product claims to “kill green mould and algae typically within two to four days and continues to gently clean the treated surfaces over the following weeks and months”.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using Wet and Forget, washing powder and bleach.

Sue Fear said: “Wet and Forget, simply spray on with a pump spray and forget it.”

Trish Clark commented: “Bio washing powder and hot water. A good ol’ yard broom. Hose down after with clear water.”

June Maxwell posted: “Squirt neat bleach on the slabs and brush all over. Leave for half an hour or so then hose it off.”
