Oklahoma casts Ted Lasso star in 80th anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein show | Theatre | Entertainment


Oklahoma! is one of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most iconic productions, and this year marks its 80th anniversary on stages.

To celebrate this incredible landmark, JAS Theatricals, London Musical Theatre Orchestra and Fourth Wall Live are putting on a pair of show-stopping performances of the production.

On Monday 19 August and Tuesday 20 August, 2024, two special renditions of Oklahoma! will be held at its original West End home, the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane.

As if that wasn’t enough, these showings will star two massive stars.

The first is Phil Dunster, of Ted Lasso fame. The British star took on the role of Jamie Tartt in the Apple TV Plus show, and previously starred in Pink Mist. He’ll be playing Curly in the production.

The second star is Zizi Strallen, who will be playing Laurey. She most recently played Marie Antoinette in Cake: The Marie Antoinette PLAYlist at the Lyric Theatre. In 2020 she was also nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

Tickets for the 80th anniversary shows of Oklahoma! will be released on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 10am.

These tickets will likely be available at a number of online retailers, but their pages have yet to go live.

This special concert edition of Oklahoma! will be directed by Bill Deamer, one of Britain’s leading choreographers and directors.

He has brought to life a number of productions, including The Corn is Green (National Theatre), The Osmonds – A New Musical (UK Tour 2022), The Boy Friend (Menier Chocolate Factory), the Olivier Award-winning Top Hat (The Aldwych Theatre), Sondheim on Sondheim (The Royal Festival Hall) and many more.

He’ll also be joined by British conductor Ben Glassberg, who was previously the music director of the Volksoper Wien and the Opéra de Rouen Normandie.
