Royal expert lifts lid on why public is captivated by Princess Kate conspiracy theories | Royal | News

The public is still trying to figure out why Princess Kate has been on medical leave for so long, and the theories just become more and more extreme, with one royal expert saying “it’s human instinct” to speculate.

Royal biographer, Tom Quinn, recently appeared on 60 Minutes Australia, saying, “Usually, with these things, it’s much better to be open with it, because if you don’t say what’s going on, you just invite people to speculate.”

He adds: “It’s a natural human instinct. We can’t help doing it.”

The Palace did let the public know what’s going on with Kate, that she was scheduled to have abdominal surgery, and she’d be out of office through Easter, but apparently that wasn’t enough, and people were demanding more details.

At the time, royal editor Richard Eden came to her defence, saying she did not have to offer up that information, unless she chose to.

It appears William may have learned this from his father, King Charles, with Quinn saying, “Charles and William, they want a different kind of life, which may be good for the monarchy.”

“Unless people start to say, ‘They’re not doing very much, maybe we should get rid of them,’ which is always possible.”
