United Airlines emergency landing: 22 injured as flight to New Jersey ‘severe turbulence’ | US | News


Twenty two passengers onboard a United Airlines flight have been injured after extreme turbulence forced the aircraft into an emergency landing.

The Boeing 787 was travelling between Tel Aviv, Israel to Newark, New Jersey, US with 312 passengers onboard.

It was forced to land at New York Stewart International Airport after 22 reported being hurt.

Images from the scene show ambulances waiting to take those badly injured to St. Luke’s Hospital.

Fifteen were treated onsite for minor medical ailments such as motion sickness.

A United Airlines spokesperson told Daily Express US: “On Friday, United flight 85 landed at Stewart International Airport (SWF) after reported high winds at Newark.

“One passenger deplaned due to a medical incident, and a few other customers were seen by medical personnel for possible motion sickness.

“The flight refueled and continued to Newark tonight.”
