The Met Office has issued a rare amber weather warning spanning 24 hours that could see up to 120mm of torrential rain in some places. The latest warning is in place for Wales, running from midnight on Monday until 11.59pm the same day.

"Fast-flowing" or "deep floodwater" is possible, which could cause "danger to life". Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to come buildings, while commuters have been warned about possible delays or cancellations to train and bus services. Spray and flooding could also lead to treacherous driving conditions and some road closures, while there is also the possibility of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.

The Met Office said in the warning: "An area of heavy rain is expected to move over central and south Wales between late Sunday and late Monday.

"Whilst rainfall amounts will vary, some heavy and persistent rainfall is likely to fall, especially over high ground, for example, Bannau Brycheiniog. Rain should clear to the east Monday night."
