Forensics officers are investigating after a body was found at a house where a fire broke out. Emergency services rushed to Marches Close, off Oldham Road in Heyside, Royton, early on the morning of December 3 following reports of an incident. Fire crews arrived at 5.35am and were soon joined by police officers as the situation unfolded.
By around 6am, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the body of a man had been discovered at the scene. The area was cordoned off as investigations began, with both fire and police teams working together to establish the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
