He told The Mail on Sunday that he wants to say to his daughter: “I don't want to die estranged.”
He also wants to see her at least “one more time” before his death, and told The Mail On Sunday that he wants to meet his grandchildren Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, before it is too late.
Thomas also said that he has not received a message from the duchess, despite the fact he has always kept his phone number the same in case she wants to reach out to him.
A hospital source, speaking with the permission of Mr Markle, also told the newspaper that Meghan has not contacted anyone at the hospital to find out about her father’s condition.
The source told The Mail on Sunday: “'Mr Markle is a VIP patient. Of course we all know who he is. If Meghan or anyone connected with her had called here we would have known. It is a big hospital by Filipino standards but we all know each other and we all talk.
“We were all confused when we saw the story that the duchess had reached out to her dad. As far as we are aware it didn't happen. We would love to see the duchess here in the Philippines!”
Express.co.uk has contacted Meghan’s team for comment on the claims that Thomas has made about Meghan’s lack of contact.
It is believed that while Meghan’s dad is “doing well”, he is not yet out of danger and needed the amputation as a “massive blood clot” in his thigh had stopped circulation to his foot and lower leg.
