Firefighters in the Australian state of New South Wales are fighting a total of 69 separate fires, with nearly two dozen of them out-of-control. According to reports seen by The Mirror Online, hundreds of hectares of land have already burned swelteringly hot, dry and windy weather compound bushfire conditions.
High winds and scorching temperatures are being experienced across the state, with dangerous thunderstorms on the way.
A severe fire danger warning was issued for large swathes of the NSW, with the mercury peaking in some towns at 44.2 degrees celsius on Saturday. Australia's Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) registered some of the highest temperatures in five or six years in NSW, which caused wild bushfires in parts of the state and damaging winds and severe thunderstorms in other parts.
Both of which prompted warnings from the BoM, with regional centres of Gosford and Dubbo both experiencing their hottest days since 2020 when, incidentally, bushfires previously razed the state, devastating Australians and shocking the world.
