Firefighters swarmed a road in Maldon, a town in Essex, after a massive gas leak prompted the evacuation of residents. A 25-metre cordon was put in place on Wednesday afternoon, as gas experts are in attendance alongside emergency responders.
A spokesperson for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Maldon's firefighters are at the scene of a gas leak in Wantz Road. Firefighters have evacuated 10 properties and a 25-metre cordon is in place. Cadent are on the scene. Please avoid the area and give crews and Cadent space to work."
