Lidl has revealed plans to launch 19 new stores across the UK within the next eight weeks as part of its ongoing nationwide expansion.
The discount supermarket is also pumping over £40million into upgrading more than 70 existing outlets, "bringing more value, choice, and jobs to communities nationwide".
With one store launching roughly every two days, the expansion will generate up to 640 new jobs throughout the country.
The new outlets will establish Lidl's presence in previously untapped areas of Great Britain, from Calne in Wiltshire to Brough in Yorkshire.
Customers visiting on launch days can sample complimentary food offerings, with Lidl promising prizes will also be available.
The budget supermarket chain describes these launches as part of an ongoing phase of substantial growth.
Additionally, Lidl has unveiled proposals to renovate over 70 current stores spanning from Dundee to the Isle of Wight, guaranteeing shoppers receive consistent quality standards regardless of location.
The £43million investment will upgrade these premises for their local communities through improvements such as new checkouts and expanded freezer capacity to stock a wider product selection.
The discount retailer is also implementing energy-efficient technology during the modernisation programme, including chillers using natural refrigerants and intelligent lighting systems designed to cut electricity consumption.
These enhancements will contribute to reducing environmental impact whilst supporting Lidl GB's commitment to achieving Net Zero.
Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB, stated: "We're starting the new year as we mean to go on, with a major investment that reinforces our commitment to delivering the best experience for customers and creating a positive impact for the communities we serve. With this push, we're set on winning more shoppers across the nation and claiming an even bigger share of the market."
