
A man has been found dead at a hotel in a major UK city centre, with police releasing a statement. Emergency services were called to the Malmaison Hotel on William Jessop Way in Liverpool just before 3pm on Friday (January 16), after receiving a report regarding the sudden death of a man.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said the man, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Pictures from the scene show a heavy police presence outside the hotel. A guest staying at the hotel told the Liverpool Echo that following the incident, they were unable to access their room on one of the floors. A staff member at the hotel also told the outlet they were "unable to comment" due to the "ongoing police investigation".

Merseyside Police said that while enquiries are ongoing, there are not initially believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
A spokesperson for the police force: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Liverpool city centre following the unexpected death of a man this afternoon, Friday, January 16.
"At around 2.55pm, officers were called to the Malmaison Hotel on William Jessop Way to reports of a man in his 40s being sadly found deceased.
"Enquiries are ongoing at the scene, and there are not initially believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
