
A Black Country school was closed on Monday after the body of a man was discovered within its grounds. Emergency services, including police officers and paramedics, rushed to Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton today, at around 10.40am, after being alerted to the discovery.
The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, police said, as enquiries are ongoing to confirm his identity and the circumstances surrounding his passing. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We’re currently at Smestow Academy after a discovery of the body in the grounds.
“Emergency services were called at around 10.40am today, and the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are now underway to confirm the man’s identity and the circumstances around his death. The school is closing to pupils as enquiries get underway.
