United States President Donald Trump's Irish golf resort has been declared safe following the discovery of a suspicious package at the prestigious course.
A security alert at US President Donald Trump's Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonbeg, Co Clare was lifted on Wednesday, January 21 after an envelope believed to contain a powder substance was delivered to the site, The Mirror reports.
A cordon was established at the resort over the incident and the Irish police service An Garda Siochana and the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended the scene.
"The package was subsequently deemed safe and the cordon has been lifted," a Garda spokesperson said. "Investigations are ongoing."
The US president's son, Eric Trump, was staying at the hotel after arriving in Dublin on Tuesday, January 20. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump shared an aerial photograph of the Doonbeg site.

He noted that it will host the Irish Golf Open later this year.
The Irish Mirror reported that the 42 year old businessman departed Doonbeg early on Wednesday morning and travelled to Davos in Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum.
The five-star hotel has previously been the subject of a bomb threat, which prompted a police investigation. The hotel was not evacuated during the incident.
It is currently closed for winter at the time. Gardai examined the site, but discovered nothing suspicious.
The US president and Eric Trump are presently in Davos, Switzerland, participating in the World Economic Forum.
The gathering, which spans from January 19 to January 23, operates under the theme of "A Spirit of Dialogue".
Donald Trump kicked off his address at the conference by declaring it was wonderful to be back amongst allies and a "few enemies".
He stated that "Europe is not heading in the right direction," before adding: "I love Europe, I want to see it do good but it's not going in the right direction."
Trump's remarks at Davos follow shortly after he warned of tariffs against eight European nations that oppose his plans to acquire Greenland.
He proceeded to declare that he is "seeking immediate negotiations to acquire Greenland".
"It's the US alone that can protect it so it's good and safe for Europe," he stated. "And that's the reason I'm seeking the immediate negotiations for the acquisition of Greenland by the US.
"This would not be a threat to NATO, it would greatly enhance the alliance," he declared. "The US has been ungracefully treated by NATO. You wouldn't have NATO if I didn't get involved in my first term."
