A 19-year-old woman who died at a Wetherspoon pub in Plymouth has been named. An inquest was opened on Wednesday, April 15, into the death of Kelsey O'Connor, from Walsall in the West Midlands.

Police officers were called to The Mannamead on March 31 to reports of an unresponsive female at the venue, the inquest heard. The woman was identified as Kelsey at the scene. Paramedics were called, but she was sadly pronounced dead.

Opening the inquest into Kelsey's death on Wednesday, area Coroner Deborah Archer said Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, PlymouthLive reports.

The medical cause of Kelsey's death has not been ascertained, the inquest heard.

Emergency services were called to the pub at approximately 7.30pm, it was reported at the time of the incident. A cordon was set up in an alleyway behind the venue.

A picture from the scene showed a police vehicle and a cordoned-off area.

The Mannamead was closed while police carried out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.

A spokesperson for Wetherspoons said shortly after the incident: "On 31 March 2026, a serious incident occurred to the rear of the Mannamead prior to the pub opening.

"Our management team responded promptly and are assisting the police with their ongoing investigation.

"The pub will remain closed today while this matter is being addressed. We appreciate the understanding of our customers and the local community."
