
A busy stretch of the A1 has been closed in both directions following a "serious" crash, with "all emergency services" rushing to the scene. The A1 in West Yorkshire has been shut both ways betwee junction 39 (Barnsdale Bar) and junction 41 (Holmfields Interchange), with drivers warned they face heavy traffic delays.
National Highways Traffic Officers are also in attendance to assist with traffic management. National Highways has warned drivers face "long delays" of up to 30 minutes. The traffic service wrote: "The A1 in West Yorkshire is closed in both directions between J39 (Barnsdale Bar) and J41 (Holmfields Interchange) due to a serious collision. All emergency services are on scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance to assist with traffic management."
