Finding flattering yet comfortable trousers for both the office and summer plans can often prove a chore, but M&S shoppers think they've done just that. The retailer's £40 Single Pleat Wide Leg Trousers with Linen come in UK sizes six to 24 and in three leg lengths; short, regular and long.
The trousers boast an impressive review score of 4.7 out of five stars on the Marks and Spencer website, with fans praising them for their ‘good quality’ and ‘perfect fit.’ The trousers - which are available in chic navy or ivory hues - have been made with a touch of linen and boast a ‘lightweight and luxurious feel’ according to M&S.
The wide leg design - coupled with the single pleats - offers a graceful drape to wearers. Meanwhile, over at Roman and shoppers have praised the Elastic Waist Wide Leg Stretch Trousers which retail for £25.
Available in a variety of colours, buyers have hailed the ‘gorgeous’ design ‘absolutely perfect.’ Elsewhere, Next sells the Smart Front Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers for £34 each.
They come in plenty of colour options for shoppers to choose from, including a chic chocolate brown hue and a spring-ready sage green. Back to M&S, and it’s not hard to see why fans of the Single Pleat Wide Leg Trousers with Linen have left the item high praise.
One said: "At last! After ordering and returning loads of different styles and cuts of modern design trousers, finally a pair that not only fit but actually flatter my short size 14 body!
"I am longer in the body with short legs, I am 5'2" with a tummy, every other pair made me look dumpy, squat or frumpy. I decided wide leg was not for me however this is currently in style - they are everywhere.
"These trousers were my last attempt and they are amazing, fitted at waist section, the pleats hid the tum and the proportions of the wide leg are cut for petite ladies. I have just bought the navy and hope for more colours in this style."
Another 64-year-old shopper enthused: "I love these - very flattering. Love the flat waistband, I read the reviews and sized up slightly - between a 12 and 14 - so chose the 14, I have a 'tummy' and this style hides it very well as they are high waisted, so had to search for some very high waisted knickers - did the trick.
"I can even tuck a top in and still looks good, maybe because of the navy colour! Also love the length, I have very short legs but chose the short (not very short size) so slimming, over the moon - feel very trendy for a 64 year old!"
It is worth noting that one reviewer deducted a couple of stars for the trousers, commenting: "Even though they are short, they were very long and I spent the night unhooking them from under my shoes. However the trousers are very good quality and I would recommend them. I'll just have to get them taken up."
Despite this, someone else said:" Lovely trousers, either dressed up or casual wear, bought a pair when I saw how lovely they were on my daughter (I am 84) and love to dress well."
Another reviewer shared: "Really nice shape, very comfortable. The material is lovely and doesn’t crease - great trousers."
