A plane crashed into a field in Clacton on Saturday afternoon, prompting a wide 999 response. Police officers were called to Clacton Airfield at about 12.10pm on April 25, where they found a light aircraft crashed into a field, with smoke rising from it.

Moments prior, firefighters were also alerted to the incident. No one was trapped inside the aircraft, and the two occupants of the small plane suffered injuries which have been described as not life-threatening.

A spokesperson from Essex Police said: "Emergency services attended reports of a collision involving a light aircraft at Clacton Airfield.

"We were first called shortly after 12.10pm on Saturday 25 April.

"Two occupants of the small two-seater aircraft suffered injuries which are thankfully not life-threatening.

"They have received treatment. Ambulance and fire service colleagues also attended the scene."

The force added that further enquiries into the incident will be led by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.

A spokesperson from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to Clacton Airfield at 12.09pm today after a light aircraft crashed into the field.

"There was no fire, just smoke coming out of the plane. There was no one trapped, two people were left in the care of the Ambulance Service and treated for minor injuries."
