Ross Davidson, known commonly to fans as Ross Wild, has been jailed for 14 years after being found guilty of raping a woman and groping another. The former Spandau Ballet singer felt he could get "sex on demand" and forced himself on women if they didn't comply. He was jailed at Wood Green Crown Court for 14 years after being found guilty of a number of rapes and sexual assaults against six women between August 2013 and December 2019.
Davidson was recognised as being the former star of Queen musical We Will Rock You, as well as spending a year as the lead singer for 80s band Spandau Ballet in 2018. He has been jailed for raping a woman in London in 2015 and the attempted rape and sexual assault of another woman in Thailand in 2019. He was previously convicted of assaults against three women.
Judge John Dodd said Davidson has been a "charismatic and successful musician" at the time of the attacks. The victims gave evidence in court, which Dodd said they "told the truth vividly". He added: "Their sense of betrayal was clear for all in court to see."
"You had a particular interest in a sleep play but in reality it was sexual abuse... it was your kink, your fetish," Dodd added. The court heard that Davidson met the rape victim on Plenty of Fish in 2012 and they had a brief "fling" before losing touch for two years.
Mr Hearnden said in court that they made arrangements for her to visit him for a weekend at his home after exchanging "flirty messages", but she told police that when she arrived his "manner had changed" to "more assertive and... aggressive."
