Host Shane Gillis brought together a roster of legendary comedians to roast the Jumanji star.

Netflix audiences are curious about the history behind Kevin Hart and Katt Williams' rivalry following the platform's most recent comedy special.

Hart faced mockery from the likes of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Pete Davidson, and Regina Hall, but the most significant moment from the new Netflix special came with an unexpected appearance by comedian Katt Williams.

The comedy icon is primarily recognised for his boundary-pushing stand-up performances and film roles, but has lately garnered attention due to an ongoing dispute with Hart.

During Netflix's Roast of Kevin Hart, which premiered on the platform last night (Sunday, 10th May), the duo ultimately made peace, albeit not without some biting comments from both parties, reports <a href="https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/kevin-hart-katt-williams-beef-37138162">the Mirror</a>.

The dispute originated back in the late 2000s, when Williams claimed Hart was accepting roles in productions such as 2008's Fool's Gold that had purportedly been offered to him initially.

He subsequently went on to attack Hart's regular collaborator Tiffany Haddish in 2017, prior to their 2018 production Night School. Hart later featured on an episode of The Breakfast Club and stood up for Haddish, while also criticising Williams for undermining Black comedians.

Williams hit back over the following years by labelling Hart a "puppet" and an "industry plant". During a Club Shay Shay interview, he suggested that Hart had never delivered a sold-out performance and repeated allegations that he had taken roles from him.

It appears the two comics have set aside their feud, though not before Williams delivered a series of cutting remarks during the Netflix roast.

He opened by expressing his "surprise" at receiving an invitation, given how much he "hates" Hart. "That's how little star power you have," Williams quipped. "They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, 'I hate him.' They said, 'Come anyway'.

"Very humble of me to be at your GOAT roast tonight," Williams continued. "Kevin, I've won an Emmy Award, but this is going to be my best acting tonight as I pretend like you are a GOAT for the people at home.

"You're wondering, why is the Katt man doing this for the money? B****, this is my Riyadh Comedy Festival, only one with a soul."

Williams was not the first comedian of the night to raise Hart's appearance at the contentious festival in Saudi Arabia. He also tackled the "industry plant" allegations, saying: "I tried to tell y'all that Kevin Hart was a plant, because I keep burying him. He keeps springing back the f*** up, just like a plant."

Addressing his "puppet" comments, he joked: "I meant that the head of Netflix literally has his whole hand up Kevin's a** and can make him do anything." Nevertheless, the comedian conceded that some of his remarks about Hart were things "I'd like to take back" and had been "misunderstood". After Williams' set, Hart appeared keen to draw a line under their feud, telling Williams: "I am offering you an olive branch of peace. I want to be a brother. I want to be a friend, Katt. I want to move on. Can we move on?"

Hart still managed to land some digs of his own regarding Williams' career, including his cameo in the widely-panned Eddie Murphy film Norbit, but ultimately concluded: "It's not good for all these white people to see two Black people fighting. We're too small to have the beef that we had.

"So Katt, it's over. The beef is over between me and Katt. And on a serious note, I love the fact that that man showed up tonight. He showed out."
