A spokesman for Meghan Markle has moved to quash speculation that the Duchess is about to branch into fashion - though her own recent comments tell a different story.

The rumours started when measurement guides for shirts appeared on the As Ever website - the Duchess's lifestyle brand best known for selling preserves, candles, chocolate, wine and flower sprinkles.

Despite the flurry of suggestions that the brand was preparing to expand into clothing, a spokesman told GB News: "There are no plans to start selling clothes."

The denial sits in some tension with the Duchess's own recent statements on the subject. In 2025, she told Fast Company: "Fashion is a category I plan to explore down the line because I find it to be an intriguing space for me."

Last month, the 44-year-old told Australian Women's Weekly: "Fashion is one of the most powerful industries. It influences how we feel and what we project. And even if you don't say a word, you can convey something in what you wear.

"Over the last several years, I would hear about an incorrect designer getting credit for something I wore, either via affiliate links or press, and that never seemed fair."

She added: "Credit where credit is due. These brands and designers work so hard and take great pride in their work, and I choose them for a reason.

"Either supporting a friend, being brand loyal, or the reasons I mentioned earlier. So it's always been important to me that the correct designer is credited."

While As Ever has no clothing plans, Meghan has already made her move into the fashion world through a different venture.

The move into resale came on 14 April, timed to her Australian tour, when she launched a personal page on OneOff - a platform using AI to match buyers with sellers - in which she holds both a stake and an active role.

Shoppers can buy directly from her curated selection, with the Duchess taking a cut of each sale.

Meghan did not attend this year's Met Gala, the annual showcase that sits at the pinnacle of the fashion calendar.

The event's organiser, Dame Anna Wintour, had notably received King Charles and Queen Camilla during their State Visit to the US in the preceding days. Despite relocating to America five years ago, the couple have yet to make an appearance at the event.
