Donald Trump has called for Barack Obama to be 'imprisoned' during a flurry of ranting online posts last night. The US President launched into an extraordinary late-night social media frenzy, sharing more than 50 posts in around five hours while reviving conspiracy theories about the so-called “deep state” and the “Russia hoax”.
Among the barrage of posts on his Truth Social platform were repeated attacks on Obama, who left office nearly a decade ago, including one post branding the former president “demonic”. One of the most explosive posts reshared by Trump ended with the message: “Arrest them all. Prosecute them all. Incarcerate them all at once for treachery, treason, and seditious conspiracy to overthrow the United States government. But first Barack Obama.”
The overnight posting spree came after Trump was accused online of appearing to fall asleep during a White House event earlier in the day. Several of the posts pushed unproven claims that Obama used federal agencies to spy on Trump ahead of the 2016 presidential election - allegations Trump has repeatedly described as “the biggest political crime in American history”.
Another repost came from the popular MAGA-linked X account “Catturd”, which claimed Obama had invented evidence that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump.
The account wrote: “Arrest Obama the traitor.”
