According to Deadline, the book is being developed as a feature film, written by Bridge of Spies’ Matt Charman, as part of Netflix’s deal with the Sussexes. The book tells the story of Easy Company, a unit of Paras and the Royal Irish Rangers, tasked with holding a district in Helmand province in July 2006 during the war in Afghanistan. The story by Major Adam Jowett, who led the unit, will be the latest feature film for Harry and Meghan, who saw their contract with the streaming giant downgraded last year to a first-look deal. This is the latest project in the works for the Sussex couple on the streaming giant.

They are producing adaptations of The Wedding Date by Tracey Oliver and Meet Me At The Lake by Carley Fortune, the latter being announced in 2023.

According to the outlet, they are also executive-producing a “polo-themed” drama series for the streaming giant, which will be set in the “high-flying equestrian town” of Wellington, Florida.

Royal fans criticised the couple for not bringing the rest of their projects to fruition and took to social media to express their views.

One use, Royal News Network - an account which regularly criticises the Sussex couple - said on X: “They have a lot of projects ‘in development.’

“It’s a pointless announcement until something is in production. We’ll see if this goes anywhere, though I imagine the two of them will somehow turn a compelling war story into a meandering, dull slog, as is their talent.”

Another user added: “Weren’t they supposed to be producing a film “' Meet Me at the lake, a few years ago? I suppose just like everything else these two has-beens touch, that’s dead in the water, along with their long list of announced but never fulfilled projects.”

A third one commented: “Totally agree. When the trailer comes out, I might believe it.”

A fourth one wrote: “They certainly are juggling lots of film adaptations right now.”

A fifth one then said: “I don’t believe they actually do, or let me rephrase: that I don’t believe these will air.”

The new project will undoubtedly hold a close place in Harry’s heart as he has served in the Army for 10 years.

Harry was deployed twice to Afghanistan, including a 10-week tour in Helmand province.

He ended his Army career in 2015.
