Netflix reality TV star Pari Kim has shared that her mum, Esme, has died after a battle with breast cancer. The 24-year-old appeared on Love on the Spectrum in a quest to find romance, with her mum's support shown in a number of episodes.
But in a heartbreaking post to Instagram on Wednesday, the train fanatic penned an emotional tribute. "Grief and tragedy is not easy and feels very unpleasant," she wrote. "It feels like everything is becoming a train wreck and that there are two sides of yourself constantly fighting: the sad, lonely girl missing what was cruelly and unfairly taken from her at such a young age and the girl who has to stay strong and positive because she can't give up if she wants to keep moving forward."
Pari sadly continued: "Not every train track is a smooth ride. Sometimes the going gets rough and you need other trains to help you pull through and carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. It's difficult to keep chugging along when your guardian locomotive reaches the end of the line but you have to keep going somehow even without her."
She later added: "If you still have parents and they are loving and caring to you, please be grateful and know how lucky you are! Time is precious and I didn’t expect to lose both of them so young!"
Esme was shown battling cancer during filming of the show. Pari spoke about her mum's health in an episode, as she said: “She does have breast cancer right now but she is on treatments so I’m hoping she can stay around and stay around for awhile.
"I’m hoping I can help keep her spirits up with my positivity.”
Pari's dad, Henry Kim, died in October 2020. According to his obituary, he passed away unexpectedly. He was 55 years old.
Her Netflix co-stars were quick to support her. Dani Bowman wrote: "I’m always here for you," as Tyler White added: "We're praying for you Pari, we love you."
Madison Marilla commented: "Soooooooo sorry to hear about the loss of your mom!! She fought very hard!! Your LOTS family is always here for you!!"
Her ex-girlfriend, Tina Zhu Xi Caruso, said: "Thinking of you a lot. Know there’s so many people who love you."
