A heatwave is forecast to hit the UK next week as temperatures are set to soar above 30C across the nation, with the sizzling highs sticking around for a few days.

WXCharts weather maps, using MetDesk data, have turned a deep red indicating a massive sweep of warm air coming to Britain.

Forecasters predict parts of southern and eastern England could reach 32C by Thursday next week, with the prolonged warm spell potentially delivering the first official heatwave of the year.

The Met Office have said that “warm weather” is on the cards with the maps showing areas in the south set to reach 29C by Tuesday evening.

The next few days, Brits will need to brace for scorching temperatures and sunny periods as the numbers continue to rise.

On Wednesday, May 27 Surrey will reach 30C with areas in Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Hampshire also reaching 29C.

In the West Midlands, Shropshire is also likely to reach 29C on Wednesday, with the rest of the county set to comfortably sit above 27C.

Although a lot cooler, temperatures in Scotland are also forecast to reach 22C, higher than average.

On Thursday, May 28 the maps turn even redder, with London expected to reach a whopping 32C.

Surrounding areas are also expected to see highs of 30C and 31C as much of the nation will bathe in the sun.

Much of the West Midlands is forecast temperatures of 29C with areas in the East Midlands also reaching 28C and 29C.

The Met office's long range forecast predicts "very warm" spells across the week.

Its forcast says: "Through the following week, high pressure is expected to broadly remain in place for much of the UK, and fine weather is likely to continue for most of the country.

"There may be occasions where low pressure to the north may bring some brief spells of rain across northern parts, but in general fair weather will dominate.

"Temperatures are expected to be above normal, feeling very warm at times with light winds."
