Popular singer Yashinder Kaur, who was better known as Inder Kaur, was found dead in a canal in India today, almost five days after the 29-year-old reportedly went missing. The Punjabi singer, who hails from Mundian Kalan, left her home on May 13 in the evening in her Ford Figo car to go food shopping. When she never returned home, and her phone was discovered turned off, her family started to search for her before calling the police. According to reports, police have launched a murder investigation and are looking into kidnapping allegations as well as claims into forced marriage pressure and coercion.

The star's body was recovered from the Neelon Canal this morning, and her car was found near the canal in Rampur village, which was about a kilometre away from where she was discovered.

Her body has since been sent to the Civil Hospital in Samrala for postmortem examination.

Tributes have been pouring in for the talent star following her passing, with fans sharing their heartbreak over her death on social media.

One person said on Instagram: "Shocking and heartbreaking news." Another added: "She was abducted 6 days ago. The case has shaken the entire Punjab; the police investigation is ongoing."

Someone else penned: "Heartbreaking," while another simply said: "So sad..."
