It's already been eight years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot at their fairytale wedding at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, which caught the attention of the world.

While people focused on a number of things from the wedding dress, to which guests appeared. There were a few aspects of the wedding that while playing a significant role, could have been easily overlooked.

One of those was the sweet tribute the Sussexes paid to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. The pair honoured Diana by forget-me-nots, the late princess’s favourite flowers, in Meghan’s wedding bouquet.

Designed by London-based florist Philippa Craddock, the stunning bouquet also included scented sweet peas, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine and astrantia.

Meghan also followed the royal tradition of placing her bouquet on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior. The Queen Mother first laid her flowers there in 1923, as a way to honour her brother Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who died during World War 1.

The ceremony also saw Princess Diana’s older sister, Lady Jane Fellowes give an emotional reading from the Song of Solomon, which the couple described as an honour, having Harry’s aunt represent the family and celebrating Diana’s memory.

Harry has also remained close to his mother’s side of the family, and wife, Meghan had revealed during their televised engagement interview that she had met Harry’s aunties and Diana’s close friend Julia Samuel.

At the time, she said that meeting them allowed her to “in some way, know a part of her [Princess Diana] through them”.

Harry also shared that he thinks his mother and wife would have been “thick as thieves” and “best friends”.

He said: “I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me, but then, as I said, would have probably been best friends with Meghan.”
