Prince William will take a much harder approach with his brother and his brother's wife than King Charles has, a royal insider has claimed. Harry and Meghan officially left their royal duties in 2020, but the King has allowed them to keep their titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Back when they made the move, eventually moving to California and pursuing commercial success in the US, Buckingham Palace said that the couple would "not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family”. However, in April 2025, the BBC reported that HRH was still being used by the Sussexes in a private capacity. Additionally, similar titles have been used for their children, Archie and Lilibet.

A royal insider has predicted a much harsher approach to Harry and Meghan than that of King Charles III. "William will take a much harder line with Harry and Meghan when he’s king," the insider told the Daily Mail.

However, the insider did not detail exactly what this will mean, and what kind of moves they expect William to take in relation to Harry when he becomes King.

It is understood that they are not on speaking terms at the moment, and they have not been seen together for some time.

Some have criticised King Charles III for taking a soft approach when it comes to Harry. He has allowed him and his wife to continue to use their Duke and Duchess titles, and has even allowed Harry to remain a Counsellor of State, meaning he could technically step in as monarch if his brother were too unwell to act as King.

Despite leaving the Royal Family in a working capacity, Harry and Meghan continue engagements around the world. They attended multiple events and gave several speeches when they recently visited Australia.

After that, Prince Harry moved on to Ukraine and gave an impassioned speech about war. Meanwhile, Meghan appeared in Switzerland to speak about children's safety online.
