A popular UK bakery chain is closing down one of its stores as a statement is issued to customers. Lola's Bakery will shut its London West Hampstead café on Bank Holiday Monday after nine years of trading. The branch has been described by regulars as "always busy" and a much-loved part of the local area. The café was the company's first site and had space for 32 customers inside its 120-square-metre premises.
Lola's Bakery is known for its cakes and pastries, including gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options. Although the West Hampstead café is closing, the wider business will continue operating through its network of kiosks and collection lockers across the UK.
The chain currently has around 45 locations, including sites at King's Cross Underground Station, Birmingham Selfridges and Welwyn Garden City.
The reason for the West Hampstead closure has not yet been made public, The Sun reports. Customers have reacted with disappointment online, with some saying the café had been part of their daily routine and a reliable spot for cakes, coffees and brunch.
