A company that supplies British fish and chip shops with frying equipment has entered liquidation. The firm, which is based in Scotland, has been in operation for over three decades.
It has been confirmed that Scotrange has ceased trading with five members of staff and two directors made redundant. The Glenrothres-based company has appointed Shona Campbell, of Henderson Loggie, as liquidator. A spokesperson said in a statement: "At the point of closure, the business employed five people, including the two directors. All employees were made redundant. The subsequent liquidation is a formal process to wind up the affairs of the business."
As reported by The Courier, Scotrange, which was previously known as Gas and Electric Catering Services, was founded by Steve Wilkie and Audrey Stevenson in 1995. The former had his own chippy and appreciated the difficulties in making sure his frying equipment met the appropriate regulations.
The business has since supplied and serviced frying equipment for fish and chip shops. It even designed its own catering equipment, including frying equipment, for the hospitality industry.
On its website, Scotrange says they "search the country for 'good condition' second hand ranges and store them until we have a customer that requires a configuration of the available stock." They also share pictures of some of their range, including new fryer tops and re-conditioned fryers.
The company adds: "At this point we strip the complete Range until we are left with the basic frame and top work, everything else is discarded. We chemically-dip all the top work and frame to remove all the accumulated dirt and grime, power wash it and finally mechanically process re-polish the top work to obtain an 'as near as new' finish as possible.
"The ranges are re-conditioned to the highest possible standard including all new wiring and electrical re-fit as well as new automatic gas system, which complies with current gas regulations and insurance requirements. The actual pans are also new, as is the counter (made to fit new location) and the front panels in customer's choice of colour and design. All new Ducting internally and externally incorporating a new fan and motor."
