Doctor Who legend John Barrowman's mother, Marion Barrowman, died on Sunday, May 24, at the age of 91. The 59-year-old shared the news in a heartbreaking post across all his social media. No cause of death was revealed, but she had struggled with health issues in recent years. In a lengthy post, John shared images of his mum through the years and wrote: "It is with a very heavy and broken heart that I share with you all that my beautiful mum Marion Barrowman passed away peacefully at home on Sunday evening, surrounded by love, exactly the way she wanted.

"Scott and I were still on a plane when we received the news. My dad was holding her hand as she took her last breath, my brother was by her side, and my sister had just spent precious weeks with them before saying goodbye over the phone. Although I wasn’t there for the exact moment she passed, when I arrived home, I lay beside her in bed, talked to her, and softly sang our little song in her ear. While our hearts are shattered, we are grateful she left this world in her own bed, in comfort, with people she loved around her," he penned.

John shared his recollections of her, describing her as: "Strong, funny, loving, glamorous, and unforgettable."

He also spoke about caring for both his parents in recent years - something he has often documented on Instagram. He acknowledged: "It wasn’t always easy, but it was one of the greatest honours of my life to help make her final years joyful, safe, comfortable, and full of love."

The star also told fans he had been forced to cancel upcoming appearances, thanking them for their "love, kindness, and support."

John was flooded with support from fans who shared their condolences in the comments of his posts. On Facebook, one wrote: 'Losing your Mom changes the world completely.' You are so right about that. Deepest condolences on your loss from someone who's lived with this change for 6 years now.'

Another added: "So sorry for your loss, it is obvious from your post what a profound loss this will be. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. It is clear how much you loved her and how proud she clearly was of you. It is wonderful that you and Scot had the privilege of looking after her and your Dad these last few years...Take time to grieve, hug Scott closer and know we understand and love you x."

A third chimed in: "I'm so very sorry for your loss, John. What you shared of her struck me as her being one of the absolute best cheerleaders for a man of your talents and personality." A fourth wrote: "I'm so sorry for your loss. My own mother passed away in 2002, my father and I weren't there at her final moments as we were both racing to the hospital when she passed...Losing a parent, I feel that I've lost a part of me! My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
