Matthew Perry's live-in personal assistant has been handed a sentence of three years and five months in connection with the actor's death.

Kenneth Iwamasa pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death in August 2024, relating to Perry's passing in October 2023.

Iwamasa administered ketamine to the Friends star before Perry was discovered dead in his hot tub at his California home.

On Wednesday, 27th May, Iwamasa received his sentence, becoming the final defendant charged in connection with Perry's death to face justice.

His sentencing followed a victim impact statement delivered by Perry's mother, in which she declared Iwamasa was "without a conscience."

In a sentencing memorandum submitted ahead of Wednesday's hearing, prosecutors stated: "When defendant Kenneth Iwamasa was hired as Matthew Perry's live-in personal assistant, he was acutely aware that Mr. Perry had suffered from drug addiction for most of his life.

"But rather than help Mr. Perry maintain sobriety, defendant became his enabler and drug supplier.

"As defendant injected more and more ketamine into Mr. Perry, he saw - and was the only person to see - clear warning signs that Mr. Perry was in danger."

Prosecutors further noted that Iwamasa lacked the necessary medical qualifications to administer the drug to Perry, and had disregarded prior warnings of Perry losing consciousness following injections, as well as "freezing up."

On the day of Perry's death, prosecutors revealed that his assistant had injected him with two separate doses of ketamine. Perry then purportedly asked Iwamasa to prepare the hot tub and "shoot me up a big one," according to prosecutors.

Iwamasa administered a third injection, departed the property to complete errands, and came back to discover Perry face down in the hot tub.

Iwamasa was not the sole individual sentenced in relation to the actor's death. Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the "Ketamine Queen," was handed a 15-year sentence last month after admitting guilt to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine, and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.

Also last month, Erik Fleming received a two-year prison term after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death.

Dr Mark Chavez, who confessed to selling fraudulently obtained ketamine to Dr Salvador Plasencia, admitted guilt to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and was handed eight months of home confinement.

Plasencia, who provided treatment to Perry, also pleaded guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine and received a 30-month prison sentence.
