
A huge fire has erupted in Plymouth, with thick black plumes of smoke seen across the city and locals warned to avoid the area. The blaze is ongoing at a top-floor flat on Vauxhall Street in the Barbican area.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue crews have rushed to the scene, with eight fire engines in attendance. A police cordon has also been put in place, with Vauxhall Street closed. The fire service wrote on X: "We are currently dealing with a significant fire on Vauxhall Street in Plymouth. Please avoid the area and, if you're in the vicinity, close windows and doors as there is a large amount of smoke."
