They are some of Britain's most loved stars who share one thing in common but wish they didn't - celebrities who will turn 60 in 2026. Now TV chef Gordon Ramsay has come out on top of a poll he would rather ignore, as he was crowned the UK's most famous face that's hitting the six-decade milestone.

The expletive-loving Scot topped the list of British icons hitting the big six zero, with almost a quarter of the nation (24%) backing him as their top choice. He pipped Harry Potter actress Helena Bonham Carter (14%) and ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ singer Rick Astley (10%) to the crown.

But one glamorous star it is hard to believe is turning 60 this year is Gavin & Stacey's co-creator Ruth Jones (8%) - who plays Nessa in the BBC show.

Another comedian John Bishop (7%), singer and former model Samantha Fox (6%), and Strictly star Anton Du Beke (6%) also featured in the top 10.

The research of 2,000 Brits was commissioned as Anglian Home Improvements - who also celebrate their 60th year - launches a "60 for 60" campaign, inviting UK local charities and community groups to apply for a share of £60,000.

Rachael Munby, chief marketing officer at Anglian Home Improvements, said: "As Anglian celebrates 60 years, we wanted to look at the people, places and everyday conversations that have shaped British life over the decades.

"From famous faces turning 60 to the little debates that happen at home, over the garden fence or in community WhatsApp groups, these findings show how much of British life is still rooted in shared moments and local connections."

The research also found more than half of Brits regularly chat on the doorstep with neighbours (57%), while 43% get locked into regular WhatsApp debates with friends, family or community groups.

Top of the list of doorstep topics is the weather (40%), our gardens and plants (29%) and more than one in four love a bit of local gossip (26%).

Other top chat starters include recommendations for builders and plumbers (13%), and one in five of us enjoys a natter about home improvements (22%).

Family (70%) are the people Brits are most likely to have regular debates with, followed by friends (56%), colleagues (26%) and neighbours (18%), according to the data.

The study also revealed the topics and traits that bring Brits together most, with moaning about the weather topping the list (73%).

Fish and chips came second (46%), followed by a love of a roast dinner (42%), drinking tea (41%) and complaining about public transport (36%).

Although only one in ten (11%) of Brits think that a love of queuing brings them together.

The research also found that three in four Brits think a strong sense of community spirit is important in modern life, while 42% wish they had more time to be an active part of their local community.

More than one in two (62%) also think communities aren’t supported with enough funding.

Rachael added: "Reaching 60 years is a major milestone for Anglian, but we also wanted our birthday to mean something for the communities we’ve been part of for generations.

"The 60 for 60 community campaign is about supporting the local projects, groups and spaces that help bring people together - whether that’s through community gardens, shared facilities, or other established neighbourhood initiatives."

With 60 prizes up for grabs, one winning community group will receive a makeover of Anglian windows and doors worth up to £24,600, to help breathe new life into a vital local hub.

Meanwhile, 59 other community groups will be selected to each receive £600, providing essential support for their invaluable work at grassroots level.
