An iconic UK homeware brand is slashing up to 70% off kitchenware in a weekend sale after it collapsed into administration. Denby Pottery is offering "fantastic" reduced prices on a variety of ranges as part of a warehouse clearance.

Bargain hunters are being urged by the firm to grab deals while they can, with reductions on selected items including cutlery sets, crockery, table accessories and cast iron cookware. Shoppers are also being offered 30% off the company's Cookshop range.

A drop in consumer demand, soaring energy costs, the cost of labour and tighter financial markets have posed a challenge to the business, which was founded in 1809 by William Bourne.

The company operates from the same site in the village of Denby where it first began.

Administrators FRP Advisory said in April that manufacturing would cease at the historic pottery company.

Redundancies have already been made from its 600 staff. More than 100 people were made redundant in April.

News of the warehouse sale comes after Chancellor Rachel Reeves vowed to work with Britain's ceramics sector to make sure the industry thrives.

She made the pledge after announcing a £120million package aimed at backing the sector's energy efficiency, decarbonisation and long-term competitiveness.

Amber Valley MP Linsey Farnsworth said the package would make Denby Pottery a more attractive prospect for any potential investors.

Over 40,000 people had signed a petition for Denby to be included in the Government's financial support scheme, which offers electricity costs relief to firms in selected industries.

Denby had seen off collapse in 2009 when it was rescued by Hilco Capital, but FRP Advisory is now seeking a buyer for all or part of the company.
