The Metropolitan Police have launched an urgent appeal following the discovery of a man's body in a van in Leicester. Officers from Leicestershire Police had found the body of a man in a parked van in Garden Street at around 5.30pm on Wednesday (May 27). Work is ongoing to identify the man and inform his next of kin.

The Met said the vehicle was registered to an address in Hounslow in south-west London. On Friday, 39-year-old woman was arrested in Hounslow on suspicion of murder. She remains in custody where she is being questioned by detectives. Following the woman's arrest and as a result of other enquiries from police, the investigation has now been passed to the Metropolitan Police. A crime scene was established at a house in Sutton Dene, Hounslow.

An investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the man's death is ongoing.
