Airports will be busier than ever over the next few months as many Brits gear up for their summer holidays. With more people at the terminal, airports can get pretty dirty quickly.
However, a new study has looked at which UK airports have had the most complaints about dirt. Private Tours England examined Google Reviews of 50 UK airports and counted how often travellers used the word “dirty” in their comments. The ranking is based on the percentage of total reviews mentioning the word.
Surprisingly, Leeds Bradford Airport emerged as the dirtiest in the UK. Overall, 2.46% of all of its reviews use the word when describing their experience at the terminal.
Leeds Bradford Airport flies to a number of destinations including Austria, Hungary, Romania, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Italy.
The airport itself has a 3.2 Google rating, with one person writing: "The airport is currently being renovated.
"However, there are very few seats, toilets are super dirty, and the WiFi does not function whatsoever."
A second said: "To say it's been refurbished, it's cheap, IKEA plastic plants everywhere and dirty and unclean. The public lounge is bad enough, but the Avro Lounge is an absolute disgrace."
Another posted: "Avoid this grubby, dirty little airport if you can. Completely unfit for purpose."
In second place was Manchester Airport with 1.45% of reviews mentioning dirt. While in third place is Belfast International Airport at 1.42%, London Stansted Airport in fourth with 1.18%, and Birmingham Airport ranking fifth at 1.13%.
