Paul Quinn has been jailed for 24 years for the 2003 rape for which innocent man Andrew Malkinson was wrongly jailed. In April, Quinn, 52, had been found guilty of the rape, strangulation and grievous bodily harm after attacking a young mother as she walked home in Salford, Greater Manchester in July 2003.
Mr Justice Bright called the woman "a remarkable person" and a "hero" as he delivered his sentencing remarks at Manchester Crown Court. The judge said: "She, not you Paul Quinn, is the person from this case who I will remember for the rest of my days. She is truly a hero." Mr Justice Bright said it was obvious how "excruciating" it was for her to come back to court for a second time. "She is a remarkable person," he said.
