Police have launched investigations following reports two teenage girls were allegedly sexually assaulted in the centre of a major UK city. Nottinghamshire Police said the incidents are alleged to have happened at around 11pm on Thursday, June 4.

In a statement issued on Friday, the force also said the alleged sexual assaults are believed to have happened in the Old Market Square area in Nottingham city centre. A cordon was set up in Norfolk Place, the force continued, amid the probes.

The teens are now being supported by specialist officers, as detectives continue to work with them to investigate the reports, the force said in a statement.

Detective Inspector Beth Sheard, of Nottinghamshire Police's Public Protection unit, said: “We know that these incidents are very concerning and I would like to reassure the victims and the wider public that we are doing everything we can to investigate these reports.

“Our investigation is now underway and I urge anyone who has any information to call Nottinghamshire Police immediately.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 879 of 4 June 2026.
