An expert has revealed why he believes William, the Prince of Wales, has stayed for all of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling's wedding. The King left the event in Gloucestershire with Queen Camilla early in order to attend the Derby in Epsom, more than 100 miles away. The service was held privately at All Saints Church in the village of Kemble, and followed by a reception at Princess Anne's nearby Gatcombe Park estate. Other members of the Royal Family also attended, including Mike and Zara Tindall, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
But Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte were not there, to the disappointment of fans. One senior member of the Royal Family who is predicted to stay for all of the celebrations is Prince William, and royal guru Richard Eden thinks he knows why. "He is keen to make amends for the fact that he failed to attend his cousin Peter’s first wedding, to Autumn Kelly, in 2008," he wrote.
"Instead, he went to a different wedding: that of an old friend, Batian Craig, in Africa. Batian is the brother of Jecca Craig, to whom William became so close before he went to university that they were rumoured to have had a ‘pretend engagement’ ceremony."
"His absence from Peter’s first wedding meant that Catherine attended on her own," Eden added, writing for the Daily Mail.
The couple announced their engagement back in August.
Beatrice and Eugenie were seen walking into the church with their husbands by their sides.
William was snapped driving the couple to the church, before helping his wife from the car.
The princess opted for a sophisticated buttercream ensemble that perfectly balanced timeless elegance with modern refinement.
The soft neutral shade felt particularly fitting, offering a subtle alternative to the brighter hues worn by some of the day’s other guests.
The dress featured a beautifully textured bouclé-style fabric, giving the look depth and structure while maintaining its feminine appeal.
