For as little as £17, Brits can fly to Jersey and experience a slice of paradise right on their doorstep, sandwiched in between the UK and France. Its convenient location means the island has a real mix of both British and French cultures but offers the vibrant blue clear waters of a Mediterranean island.
It's also the easiest spot to cram a whole lot in, with it being just nine miles by five miles in size, it doesn't take a lot to get around and see it all.
With its main language being English and it using the same Great British Pounds as currency, it's essentially a home away from home for Brits and requires far less prep than a flight abroad - ideal for families travelling with little ones.
Like any island, one of the best things to do when you arrive in Jersey is head to one of its many scenic beaches. The top spot, however, according to TripAdvisor reviews, ranking it as the fourth-best thing to do on the island, is St Brelade's Bay Beach.
The bay acts as a real hub for all kinds of activities, as it offers numerous equipment rentals for those keen to try kayaking, banana boating, or heading out onto a pedal boat. Not to mention, access-wise, it's ideal and easily reached via local bus services, or visitors can make use of the public car parks along the bay.
A recent visitor wrote: "This is a lovely sandy beach. We visited when the tide was out, so there was a vast expanse of golden sand. On a bright sunny afternoon, this was an ideal place to relax."
Another shared: "A beautiful soft sandy beach with many cafes and restaurants. The floral displays in the gardens are beautiful, making it very picturesque. Everywhere is clean and tidy.
"There is a frequent bus service to the beach, and next to the bus stop there is a lovely little beach shop that sells all sorts of souvenirs, essentials and beachwear."
Despite being so small in size, the island boasts a hell of a lot of history, with not one but two spectacular castles. The most popular would probably be that of Elizabeth Castle, where you can spend your day exploring a sprawling 15-acre fortress with the help of a tour guide.
The tours have been highly praised by visitors for being engaging, with one review syaing: "I have to say the tour that he took us on was both funny and interesting, making his historical life and times extremely vivid.
"Included in his tour was time in the actual house where he himself lived while living on the island as governor. If only history could have been taught like this when I was at school!"
The other outstanding castle is Mont Orgueil Castle, with over 200 steps to the top of the castle offering expansive views over the coast and the island. As you explore the stairs, towers and hidden rooms, you'll uncover hidden treasures and learn about the building's history through a series of artworks on the walls.
