Katie Price's husband, Lee Andrews, has reportedly pleaded with her to help secure his release from prison. Lee is currently being held in Dubai's notorious Al Awir jail, despite reports suggesting he was due to walk free last week. Initially, it was understood that Lee would need to pay a four-figure sum to secure his release. However, it has since emerged that the true cost of his freedom is a staggering £140,000.
Despite Lee claiming to be a millionaire and potentially having access to the funds, he is now allegedly hoping his wife will step in. While Katie has no intention of dipping into her own pocket, Lee has urged her to launch a GoFundMe campaign, appealing to members of the public to contribute towards the considerable sum needed to free him. However, during a phone conversation with her husband, Katie delivered a rather blunt response. "No one will do that for you, Lee, trust me," she said. The Sun reports that she added: "Everyone hates you."
While conditions inside Al Awir are widely known to be harsh, Lee has insisted to his wife that his experience behind bars tells a very different story.
He claims to have struck up a friendship with Daniel Kinahan, who was apprehended in Dubai following a lengthy joint operation between Irish and United Arab Emirates authorities to bring one of the world's most wanted alleged criminals to justice.
Lee informed Katie that he'd shared dinner and breakfast with Daniel, describing him as "all right, actually". He also alleges that the two converse in Gaelic to prevent prison guards from understanding their exchanges.
Yet while Katie continues to insist she's deeply in love with Lee and has faith in him, she has herself acknowledged that their relationship may soon reach its end. Lee originally stated that he'd been arrested and held on espionage charges. It subsequently emerged as a private civil dispute.
For the first time, Katie also admitted she requires clarity from Lee. "I need answers, and if I don't like the answers, I'll be gone," she told the same newspaper over the weekend.
She continued: "I'm 48. I don't need to waste my time. We get along really well and he's so intelligent ... As much as I want to listen to the women [his exes] and I'm really open-minded about it, I know what a good woman I am."
Katie stressed she is "protected" and "taking notes" - cautioning fans not to view her as a "mug". She elaborated: "There is no way he would mess with me, and in a way, I feel protected because I have the nation looking out for me.
"I'm not a mug, and when I finally see Lee, I am going to question him. And if the answers I get are not right, that will be it: I'll be done. That's it. And I'll just get on with my life... and not find a man on Instagram and message him."
Over the weekend, the former glamour model took to the stage at Canterbury Pride and posed a question to the audience about whether she should part ways with her husband. "I want to hear it from you guys, do I leave Lee or stay with him?" she asked, prompting an immediate roar of approval from the crowd.
