Traffic is currently at a standstill on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 9 and 8 following the collision.
National Highways is urging drivers to consider alternative routes, with Essex Police at the scene. Motorists are currently facing delays of around 75 minutes, with approximately seven miles of congestion on the approach to the incident.
