A busy airport closed without explanation this afternoon.

Authorities announced that Inverness Airport, in northern Scotland, was closed today (June 14), for several hours.

In a statement released just before 2pm the airport said it would remain closed until 4pm, warning travelers to keep an eye out for updates.

The message also urged passengers to contact their airline for further details on flights.
