Sharon Osbourne has revealed that a recent hospital stay prevented her from attending a tribute to her late husband, Ozzy Osbourne, at France's Hellfest festival. The 73-year-old television personality and music manager addressed her followers on social media after a statue honouring Ozzy was unveiled on Thursday, June 18, at the renowned heavy metal festival.

Sharon explained she had hoped to attend but was unable to travel due to a health issue earlier that week. "I'm sorry I couldn't be at Hellfest for the unveiling of Ozzy's statue. Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week," Sharon wrote. She also expressed her gratitude to those behind the tribute. "A big thank you Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud, and everyone at Hellfest. Special thank you to @philippe_pasqua_officiel for the absolutely stunning statue!" she continued. Sharon chose not to disclose further details regarding the reason for her hospitalisation.

It is not the first time that Sharon has spoken openly about her wellbeing. In 2022, she was hospitalised following what was described as a sudden medical emergency.

Several months later, in January 2023, she addressed the incident during an appearance on The Talk, revealing she had fainted while working on a filming project. "It was the weirdest thing," Sharon remarked in a clip from the interview.

"I was doing some filming and suddenly they told me that I [passed out] for 20 minutes. And I was in hospital, I went to one hospital, they took me to another hospital, and I did every test over two days, and nobody knows why."

Sharon has also previously revealed she was briefly hospitalised in 2020 following a positive COVID-19 test. She was diagnosed with colon cancer years before and has since entered remission.

She subsequently discussed the experience on The Osbournes, the reality programme that documented her family's life.

The Hellfest tribute represented one of the public accolades for Ozzy, the Black Sabbath frontman and solo performer widely recognised as the "Prince of Darkness."

Sharon and Ozzy were married for decades and regularly collaborated throughout his career. Earlier this month, Sharon and the couple's son, Jack Osbourne, also outlined plans relating to preserving Ozzy's image through artificial intelligence.

They stated the concept was not about capitalising on his legacy, but rather about embracing evolving technology and establishing something for future generations of the family.

"Technology moves on," she said. "For somebody to turn around to me and say I'm doing a cash grab, no. You don't know my husband. I know my husband. And my husband would say to me over and over: 'How long do you think I'll be remembered?' [It's something] that will pass on through our family, and it's for our grandkids," she concluded.
