A man is fighting to recover from life-altering injuries after he was "deliberately driven at" and "trapped against a wall", according to police. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the alleged incident, which officers say occurred just before 10pm on Friday outside a Co-op supermarket on Fircroft Road, Ipswich.
Suffolk Constabulary said that the reported collision took place in the wake of an alleged earlier altercation between the 20-year-old victim and the driver and passenger of a white Volkswagen Polo. The vehicle was then reportedly driven at the victim "deliberately", pinning him against a wall.
Officers stated that the driver and passenger subsequently abandoned the car and fled on foot, with all parties believed to be known to one another.
The 20-year-old victim sustained open leg fractures described as life-changing, and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Two men, both aged 20, were detained shortly after the collision on suspicion of attempted murder.
Two other men, also aged 20, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs.
Suffolk Constabulary said: "The four men were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned by detectives. A police scene was in place but the road has now reopened."
