An insider has revealed the celebrity wedding that Meghan Markle was keen to attend - but missed out on an invitation to. Pop star Taylor Swift is set to get married to NFL star Travis Kelce in a massive wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City, which will reportedly have around 1,000 guests. However, Meghan and Harry are reportedly not on the invite list, something that has apparently left Meghan disappointed.

Reports suggest that the wedding is set to take place on July 3, with many notable figures set to attend, including Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter, Lana Del Rey, Suki Waterhouse, and Zoe Kravitz, among many other famous faces. But an insider told Rob Shuter, who writes the popular Naughty But Nice gossip blog, that Meghan was "desperate" for an invite. It is not the first time Markle was reportedly rejected by Swift, as she sent her an invite to appear on her Archetypes Podcast in 2023.

"This was never just about attending a wedding," the insider said.

"For Meghan, it was about getting closer to Taylor. Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years.

"Taylor was the one Meghan wanted most. More than any other celebrity, she saw Taylor as someone who could elevate her status and open doors."

"Meghan has always been drawn to powerful people," said another insider.

"Throughout her career, she’s gravitated toward influential figures and high-profile circles. Taylor became the ultimate prize."

"Taylor values loyalty and genuine relationships," they added.

"If she senses someone is interested in access rather than authentic friendship, she keeps her distance."

"She desperately wanted an invitation," says one insider. "The missing invitation told Meghan everything she needed to know. Taylor made her choice—and Meghan wasn’t part of it."

The family will also reportedly stay in private accommodation during their trip.
